In Their Own Words: A Q&A with The Jack’s Sales Team.
Construction of The Jack is slated to begin soon, which means the current sales office and model suite won’t be around much longer. Before they move to their new sales office, we wanted to speak with Richard Schmidt and Michelle Jalsevac, two of Aspen Ridge’s finest sales representatives who combined have twenty years of sales experience, to learn more about Rosedale’s most luxurious boutique condominium.
What sets The Jack apart from other condominiums in Toronto?
Richard: The location! It’s a prime location. Unlike the busy area of Bloor and Yonge, and the developed intersection of Yonge and Eglinton, this location is quiet. It’s close enough so that people can experience these popular areas, but far enough removed from the chaotic hustle and bustle.
I’ve lived in this area for 13 years, I live just down the street – I know this area extremely well. And I didn’t want to live at Yonge and Bloor or Yonge and Eglinton because it was too busy.
That being said, people move to The Jack because they want to stay in this beautiful Toronto neighbourhood, they want to remain in the community. And because The Jack is such an intimate condominium, it can offer them a sense of community and belonging. Most condos don’t start off as a community.
Michelle: For me it’s the connection to the park and the trails – that’s a big plus. To have a building on Yonge Street and then have this connection to nature is extremely unique. The David A Balfour Park and Rosehill Reservoir are literally in The Jack’s backyard. There’s deer out there and lots of wildlife, and you can walk from here to the Brick Works just on forested trails.
And as for the community aspect, Jack residents will get more attention from concierge and valet, more than they would in another building because there aren’t so many people coming and going. The staff will get to know your name, your friends and family. They will make you feel special.
What has excited you about this development?
Michelle: Firstly, The Jack is going to be architecturally beautiful. For example, we’re using real limestone.
Richard: Yes, when people come in and see the model of our building, there are very few buildings here that are like it – and they love that. The fact that it’s a upscale boutique building is also exciting.
Interestingly, The Jack is attracting a lot of empty nesters or soon-to-be empty nesters that know about real estate, but have never purchased a condominium before. The vast majority of suites are being sold to locals who have roots in this neighbourhood, but have never experienced condo living. And we get to be the ones who introduce them to this new type of lifestyle.
Michelle: Aspen Ridge is very good at covering a range of demographics and lifestyles with their diverse buildings. They always seem to build the best building in a certain location. In Rosedale, The Jack is that building.
What are the interiors going to be like?
Richard: II BY IV DESIGN is the interior designer for The Jack’s common areas. This company is known for its restaurants and bars, a lot of trendy things, but it kept this building more classic, more elegant, with modern touches. And that’s notable when you look at our sample boards out in the hallway. People love it because it’s timeless.
What are some of the main features and finishes?
Michelle: There’s going to be a stunning party room that’s equipped with a prep kitchen and a dinning table, which is perfect if you’re big on entertaining. There will also be a lounge and entertainment area, and state-of-the-art fitness facility.
Richard: And there are 3 elevator banks, and having more than the standard number of elevators in a building is huge. I know some buildings in Toronto where 3 elevators would service 300 – 400 units, and we’ve only got 126 suites. You’re almost never going to have to wait. Even when one is on service, you still have the luxury of using 2 elevators.
People will also have access to 24-hour concierge, peak hour valet, which is about 18 hours per day, a pet wash, and a magnificent rooftop oasis that is perfect for sun tanning.
What are some of the best local amenities in the area?
Michelle: The big thing here is the Five Thieves, but the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club and Badminton & Racquet Club of Toronto are also within walking distance. These are what I would call Social Clubs and amenities for people who are active and like to entertain; and we are right in the middle of them.
What would you tell someone who is thinking of purchasing a suite at The Jack?
Richard: You’re going to find a sense of belonging here because most buyers are living similar lifestyles and are looking to purchase a condo suite for the same reasons.
Michelle: They’ll also find peace of mind. Not only are the services more personal, but people can also go away and travel for half of the year and not have to worry about what’s going on back home.
A lot of our purchasers are concerned about losing backyard space, but what they don’t realize is that your lifestyle changes and the city becomes your backyard.
