On-site waste-sorting

Use of dedicated recycle bins for proper collection and disposal of reusable, recyclable and biodegradable materials.---
Recycled materials

New roads and driveways on all projects are paved with a granular material that comes from recycled concrete.---
Bio-Diesel

Much of our servicing equipment runs on bio-diesel (fuel made with new and used vegetable oil), which helps reduce C02 emissions, is biodegradable and has a lower overall environmental impact versus traditional fuels. ---
Cladding

Vinyl cladding manufacturers are at the forefront of the green manufacturing movement, with many using renewable energy to power their plants during the manufacturing process. Most vinyl siding contains an exceptionally high content of recycled material, with up to 90% of the siding being manufactured with vinyl waste product. The lifespan of vinyl cladding typically lasts up to 40 years, making it a durable material with a low environmental footprint. Elevation specific---
Trex decking

Balcony decks are made with Trex Decking, a unique composite made with about 50% recycled/reclaimed plastic and 50% reclaimed wood. A standard built into every home requiring a balcony deck.---
Brick Veneers

Primarily made of clay and water, bricks are a natural construction material. There are little or no complex chemicals, no exotic compounds and no imported components. So at the end of its lifespan, it could effectively be broken down and returned to the earth where it originally came from. Brick is also recyclable, and old brick walls can be carefully demolished to salvage and re-use a high percentage of the bricks. Clay mining is also relatively benign, clay itself is not a resource in short supply, and very little processing is required to produce finished bricks. Elevation specific---
Recycled steel

All the structural steel used by Aspen Ridge is made with recycled steel, much of which is harvested from scrap cars and used refrigerators. ---
Thicker Walls

Traditionally, walls have been constructed with a 2" x 4" wall cavity. Aspen Ridge Homes is now building with a larger 2" x 6" wall cavity, increasing the available space for insulation by 57%. This increases the R-value from R12-R15 (2" x 4") to R19-R21 (2" x 6"). The added thermal value provides dramatic results in keeping indoor temperatures constant, reducing the load on heating and cooling systems.
Standard in all Aspen Ridge communities. ---
Dual-flush toilets

Reduce water consumption by an average of 26% per flush versus the standard six-litre toilet. A standard built into every home.---
Engineered hardwood

Uses 30% less lumber than traditional solid wood flooring. Available through our
Design Studio. ---
Low flow shower heads

Reduce household water consumption without creating a noticeable difference. A standard built into every home. ---
Low-E-coated windows

A simple low-emissive coating on all windows utilizes the sun’s infrared energy to keep heat on the side of the glass from which it originated. This keeps heat inside in the winter and outside in the summer. A standard built into every home.---
Recycled broadloom

We offer Beaulieu Canada’s “Montibello Supreme,” a quality 35-oz. broadloom made with 100% recycled pop bottles. This broadloom has undergone a stringent 14-day testing process by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). And as a low-VOC product, it meets or exceeds the Green Label Plus requirement for optimal indoor air quality. One style only, available through our Design Studio.---
Tile Floor Coverings

Like brick, tile is a very green material, made primarily from natural clay. Tile also has an extremely long lifespan, and thus needs to be replaced infrequently which reduces landfill concerns. Many tile manufactures are refining their manufacturing process to be more green-friendly, conserving their use of energy, water and raw materials while reducing waste product. Ceramic tiles have been used since the Roman Empire, so we know ceramic is highly successful at standing the test of time. Standard in all Aspen Ridge communities---
